How We Ship to Italy
Our Italy service provides comprehensive door-to-door shipping. We pack your belongings at your US home, handle all export and import documentation, ship via air or ocean freight, clear Italian customs, and deliver directly to your Italian address — whether it is a modern apartment in Milan or a centuries-old townhouse in Umbria.
Italian homes, particularly in historic city centres and smaller towns, often have narrow streets, tight staircases, and small or no elevators. We strongly recommend assessing access to your new home before finalising what furniture to ship. Our team provides practical advice based on extensive experience delivering to Italian addresses of all types.
Italian customs (Agenzia delle Dogane) can be thorough, and having complete, accurately prepared documentation is essential to avoid delays. We prepare all trasloco documentation and work directly with customs authorities. You will need a codice fiscale (tax identification number) for the customs process — apply at the Agenzia delle Entrate as soon as possible after arrival.

Shipping Tips for Italy
Get your codice fiscale immediately
Apply at the local Agenzia delle Entrate office as soon as you arrive. This tax code is needed for customs clearance, opening a bank account, and virtually all official processes.
Check access to your Italian home
Italian city centres, especially in Rome, Florence, and Naples, have narrow streets, ZTL zones (restricted traffic areas), and buildings with no elevators. Assess access before shipping large furniture.
Which port matters for delivery time
We route to Genoa for northern Italy, Livorno for central Italy and Tuscany, or Naples for southern Italy — minimising inland delivery distance.
Italian plug type is unique
Italy uses Type L plugs in addition to the standard European C/F. Most modern power strips accept all three types, but check your electronics.
